Pros
MRI: they are union, so the magnets are typically fully staffed or the management/leads do their best to make sure they are. Often on 3rd shift it’s just 1 tech and 1 TA, and management newly wants 8 patients scanned in an overnight shift but often that’s not possible with difficult/complex pts. The protocols are built very well and there is a SharePoint page with all the instructions you’ll ever need. The perm techs will help you if you take notes, try your best, and have a normal/good demeanor. Techs won’t like it if you try to do things different. Techs are very pro safety with a strong safety culture unlike anywhere else in the region, a dedicated MRSO clears and writes scan conditions for all complex devices ahead of time. The workflow is very good, if you run behind in the main dept, another room will help, and vice versa. The dept really does work as a team, tried to help and prevent mistakes of coworkers, healthy constructive criticism, etc.
Cons
They will fire travelers if they are lazy, dont know how to scan (most common cause of firing of travelers) argumentative, or otherwise cause issues. This is not a con if you come to work, competently scan patients, and go home. Travelers who get through their 13 weeks keep their head down, go with the flow, and leave without any issues at all.
