Job Summary and Qualifications:We are seeking a Bariatric Coordinator RN to join our healthcare team. Responsible for direct and indirect care of patients. Works closely with patients, physicians, and staff to direct optimal obesity care services through both clinical oversight, and educational guidance. Your primary function is to work with patients throughout the process of achieving their weight-loss goals during the pre and post operational weight–loss surgeries. You will work with a phenomenal team that cares like family and works together in a collaborative manner. You will also have the opportunity to support the hospital by assisting with regulatory compliance to ensure the facility is continually meeting patient safety standards.
- Responsible for the coordination of care for the Bariatric program.
- Participates in the development and ongoing improvements of the program.
- Tracks candidate leads and follow-up on a timely basis.
- Responds promptly and accurately to meet prospective leads/patient needs.
- Insures accuracy of data entry in to all databases associated with clinical outcomes and accreditation. Compiles, analyzes, and reports on identified clinic data to assure accurate documentation and compliance with facility and regulatory standards. (ie. “MBSAQIP” accreditation)
- Insures program’s compliance to MBSAQIP requirements.
- Assists in the coordination and facilitation of the Bariatric Committee.
- Oversees patient follow up and tracking program.
- Functions as a liaison between the hospital, clinic and surgical practice and works to build relationships with referring physicians.
- Prepares, coordinates and participates accordingly for clinic events (orientation, seminars, health fairs).
- Assists in providing internal education and marketing endeavors to PMC departments including outpatient areas.
- Attends Seminars and Community Events as assigned and may require Travelling.
- Assists in monitoring regulatory standards, tracking corrective actions, and preparing documentation for surveys and audits.
- Collaborates with department leaders to maintain readiness, organizes compliance data, and helps coordinate education and communication related to regulator updates.
CLINICAL REVIEWER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- MBS clinical reviewer will be provided with the appropriate resources and access to date and information systems at both the center and the physicians’ offices.
- The clinical reviewer must work closely with the center and clinicians to ensure that appropriate short term and long term data elements are available in the medical records.
- Satisfactory completion of online training and ongoing maintenance of certification is required after the center reached accreditation.
- It is the responsibility of the MBS clinical reviewer to ensure that procedure and follow-up data are entered into the MBSAQIP registry within the prescribed data timeframes.
- The clinical reviewer must work closely with the clinical and administrative staff and must participate in at least two MBS committee meetings annually, one of which must be the comprehensive review.
*Schedule is 5 days a week.
Job Requirements:
- Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
- 1+ years of RN experience in an acute care environment preferred
- Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, BSN is preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of start
- Member of the ASBS preferred
- CBM Certified Bariatric Nurse preferred
