Sterile Processing Tech

Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. This role involves distributing medical equipment and supplies to meet the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and SCL Clinics. The position requires operating and monitoring sterilization equipment, disassembling carts, and adhering to Universal Precautions for decontamination. Additional responsibilities include maintaining records for instruments, ensuring proper labeling and tracking, and responding to emergency situations to supply and deliver necessary items promptly. The Sterile Processing Tech also provides on-the-job training to new associates and promotes the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health.

Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team.
- Experience and understanding in the use of computers and ability to learn relevant software.
- Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- Regular attendance during scheduled business hours or shifts.
- Ability to work nights and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room.

Additional Information
- May be required to work overtime based on business needs.
- May be required to float to other departments within scope of competency and qualifications.
- May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
