Job Summary:

Under immediate to general supervision, the Surgical Technician provides technical assistance in the capacity of a surgical (scrub) technician in an operating room, labor and delivery, or other facility performing surgical procedures. The role involves preparing the operating room, maintaining sterile techniques, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring the proper handling of surgical instruments and specimens. The technician also participates in training new surgical technicians and may perform clerical and direct patient care activities in the Labor and Delivery unit.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited school/program for Surgical Technicians OR 6 months of scrub tech experience as a substitute for formal training.
• Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

• Knowledge of basic human anatomy and first-aid methods.
• Skill in maintaining effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate care for patients across the lifespan, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric groups.
• Understanding of growth and development principles and the ability to assess patient-specific needs.
