Duration: 3+ Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Location: Sumter, SC 29150
Shift: Day Shift | Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5x8 Hours)
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Dietitian (RD) to join the Dietary Services team at a leading acute care hospital in Sumter, SC. The Dietitian will provide comprehensive nutrition assessment, intervention, and education for adult patients across a variety of inpatient settings, including medical, surgical, and intensive care units (ICUs). The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical nutrition knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and develop individualized nutrition care plans for hospitalized adult patients.
• Provide medical nutrition therapy and dietary recommendations based on patient diagnoses, laboratory values, and clinical status.
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting nutrition interventions as needed.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on nutrition-related topics and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Document nutrition assessments, interventions, and follow-up care accurately within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to patient care planning.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based nutrition practices.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain current knowledge of clinical nutrition guidelines.
Required Qualifications
• Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required.
• Active South Carolina Dietetics License required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
• Experience providing clinical nutrition services in an acute care or hospital setting preferred.
• Strong understanding of adult medical, surgical, and critical care nutrition.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
