Description

Job Title: Wound Ostomy Nurse (RN)
Duration: 3 Months (Possibility to extend or convert)
Shift: : Mon –Fri (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
Location: Newport Beach, CA , 92660
Position Overview
The Wound Ostomy Nurse (RN) serves as a clinical resource for patients and healthcare staff regarding wound care, ostomy management, continence disorders, skin breakdown, fistulae, and pressure injuries. This role provides direct patient care, education, consultation, and support in both inpatient and outpatient settings while promoting best practices in wound prevention and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and manage acute and chronic wounds, ostomies, fistulae, and skin integrity issues.
Evaluate all patients with Stage III and Stage IV pressure injuries.
Monitor and assess hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs) and ensure reporting compliance.
Develop and implement strategies to reduce and eliminate HAPIs.
Provide pre- and post-operative patient and family education regarding wound and ostomy care.
Serve as a wound care resource for nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams.
Evaluate wound care products, skin care equipment, and treatment protocols.
Conduct staff education, in-services, and bedside training.
Stay current on advancements in wound, ostomy, and skin care practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Active California RN License in good standing.
Current CWON (Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse) Certification.
Minimum 4 years of clinical nursing experience.
Strong knowledge of infection control and patient safety protocols.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel locally; must be a licensed and insured driver
