Description

Dental Hygienist – Community Health Clinic

Facility: N.E.W. Community Clinic
Location: Green Bay, WI (also available in Sturgeon Bay, WI – candidate preference)
Position Type: 13-Week Contract
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Position Overview

This Dental Hygienist role offers the opportunity to work in a community health setting where the focus is on providing accessible, high-quality dental care to patients who may not otherwise receive consistent services. Unlike many private practices, this environment allows for a more measured pace, giving providers the time needed to deliver thorough care, educate patients, and build meaningful clinical relationships.

The clinic operates as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), emphasizing patient outcomes, preventative care, and long-term health improvement over high patient volume. This creates a more structured and collaborative clinical atmosphere, ideal for professionals who value both quality and purpose in their work.

Compensation

  • Local Pay: $55/hour (approximately $2,200/week)
  • Travel Pay: $2,326/week total package (Must reside 50+ miles away from this facility to qualify for travel package)
  • Overtime paid at time and a half

Schedule Options

Green Bay Location:

  • Monday–Thursday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Friday: 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM

Sturgeon Bay Location:

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Candidates may select the location that best fits their needs and schedule preferences.

Work Environment

This is a low-to-moderate volume clinic with a strong emphasis on patient care quality. Providers typically see:

  • 6–8 patients per day
  • A mix of preventative, routine, and education-focused visits
  • Patients from diverse backgrounds, often with limited access to care

Additional environment highlights include:

  • Team-oriented, collaborative clinical staff
  • Emphasis on patient respect, communication, and education
  • Structured workflows without production-driven pressure

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dental cleanings and preventative hygiene services
  • Conduct oral health assessments and document findings
  • Take X-rays and assist with diagnostic procedures
  • Provide detailed patient education on oral hygiene and disease prevention
  • Collaborate with dentists and care teams on treatment planning
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation

Systems & Training

  • EMR Systems:
    • Green Bay: Epic
    • Sturgeon Bay: Open Dental (transitioning to Epic)
  • Orientation: 1–2 weeks of structured training and onboarding

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience preferred, but open to less experienced candidates
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfort working with diverse and underserved populations

What Sets This Role Apart

This position is designed for dental professionals who want a more sustainable and rewarding clinical experience. Key advantages include:

  • Lower daily patient volume compared to traditional practices
  • No weekend schedule and consistent weekday hours
  • Greater focus on patient education and relationship building
  • Opportunity to work in a mission-driven healthcare environment
  • Competitive compensation with predictable scheduling

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone who is clinically capable, reliable, and values a patient-centered approach. This role is particularly well suited for individuals who prefer a steady pace, want to reduce burnout, and are interested in contributing to community health initiatives.
