Dental Assistant – Correctional Facility

Location: Clallam Bay, WA
Pay Rate: $30.00/hour
Start Date: August 10, 2026
Contract Length: 13 Weeks with Possibility of Extension

Position Overview

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Dental Assistant for a 13-week contract assignment at a correctional facility in Clallam Bay, Washington. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated dental team in a secure healthcare setting, providing essential dental services to the incarcerated population.

The Dental Assistant will work the same schedule as the onsite dentist, following either a 4 days on / 3 days off or 3 days on / 4 days off rotation. This assignment has the potential for extension based on facility needs and performance.

• Schedule will mirror the dentist's rotation

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist during dental examinations and procedures
• Prepare patients, treatment rooms, instruments, and materials
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments according to infection control standards
• Take and process dental radiographs as permitted by state regulations
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
• Monitor and maintain dental supply inventory
• Follow all facility security protocols and healthcare policies
• Collaborate with healthcare and correctional staff to ensure efficient patient care

Requirements

• Active Washington State Dental Assistant registration/certification, as required
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Previous dental assisting experience preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment
• Must meet all facility credentialing and background requirements

The Dental Assistant provides support to the dentist during patient care and completes the preparation of the room and dental tools/equipment. The Dental Assistant complete intake paperwork, update patient records, sterilize and organize dental tools, and assist during any dental procedures. 

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma or its equivalent
• Current License/Certificate within state of practice
• One year experience as Dental Assistant preferred
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable 
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) 
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements 
• Must be at least 18 years of age
