Position Overview
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all nursing services within a 108-bed long-term care facility that includes both rehabilitation and specialty memory care units. This leadership role ensures the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The DON provides clinical and operational oversight for the nursing department and plays a key role in quality improvement, staff development, and regulatory readiness.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct daily nursing operations for long-term care, rehabilitation, and specialty dementia/Alzheimer’s care units
- Provide leadership and oversight to approximately 75 direct reports
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and all federal, state, and local regulations
- Develop, implement, and enforce nursing policies, procedures, and clinical standards
- Lead staffing, scheduling, performance management, and staff development initiatives
- Promote safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
- Collaborate with facility leadership and interdisciplinary teams to improve clinical outcomes
- Oversee quality assurance, infection control, and continuous improvement efforts
- Maintain accountability for clinical documentation, nursing practice standards, and regulatory preparedness
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia
- BLS certification required
- Long-term care management experience required
- DON or ADON experience required
- Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of Director of Nursing experience in a long-term care setting
- Strong clinical judgment, leadership, and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of the nursing process and regulatory requirements
- Basic computer proficiency
