Job Description
A community-focused healthcare organization in Artesia, New Mexico is hiring a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) for a permanent, full-time role primarily supporting hospital-based outpatient physical therapy services, with occasional flex to inpatient MedSurg/Rehab units as needed.
This role provides hands-on patient care across a broad age range and diagnosis mix, working under a physician referral and physical therapist plan of care, in compliance with New Mexico state laws and within the scope of PTA practice.
Position Overview
- Permanent, full-time direct-hire role
- Start date: ASAP
- Specialty: Physical Therapy (PTA)
- Primary setting: Hospital-based outpatient PT
- Flex coverage: Inpatient MedSurg/Rehab as needed
- Patients treated per day: 8–10
Shift Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00a–5:00p
- Department closed daily from 12:00p–1:00p for lunch
- Weekend rotation: Approximately 1 weekend every 5 weeks (covering inpatient units)
Compensation & Incentives
- Pay range: $29.20 – $33.99 per hour (based on experience)
- Up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus
- Relocation assistance available up to $8,000 (with receipts)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy treatments addressing functional mobility, strength, balance, ambulation, sensation, wounds, and motor function
- Follow individualized plans of care with measurable functional goals
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising therapist
- Complete clear, timely documentation in compliance with APTA guidelines and billing requirements
- Maintain confidentiality, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
- Etc.
Requirements
- Graduate of a nationally accredited Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program
- Eligible for licensure with the New Mexico State Physical Therapy Board
- BLS Certification (required prior to start)
- Minimum of 1 year of outpatient PT experience preferred but new grads encourage to apply.
