Licensed Practical Nurse
Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) — Contract
Position Title Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
License Required Active, unrestricted LPN license in the State of New Mexico
Required Cert BLS (current)
Preferred Cert ACLS, PALS
Schedule 40 hrs/week, M–F 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM + Thursday late clinic rotation
Reports To CBNHC Director of Nursing / Designated Clinical Supervisor
Employment Type Contract (Four Winds Staffing LLC)
Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed provider. The LPN supports immunization clinics, respiratory care, phlebotomy, and wound care services in the ambulatory clinic and contributes to walk-in and primary care visits, the Thursday late clinic rotation, and the Tuesday To’Hajiilee Community School clinic.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Collect and document vital signs, chief complaints, and medication reconciliation
• Administer immunizations and medications within the LPN scope of practice in New Mexico
• Assist with respiratory treatments and patient teaching
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection; prepare specimens for laboratory transport
• Provide routine wound care, dressing changes, and patient education under RN/provider direction
• Support providers during patient examinations, including assisting with procedures and documentation
• Maintain stocked, clean, and organized exam rooms and treatment areas
• Participate in the Thursday late clinic rotation (4:30 PM – 6:30 PM)
• Support the Tuesday school clinic at To’Hajiilee Community School when assigned
• Document all care accurately and timely in the EHR
• Communicate patient changes or concerns promptly to the supervising RN or provider
• Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and CBNHC/IHS clinic policies
Required Qualifications
• Active, unrestricted LPN license in the State of New Mexico
• Active and unrestricted licens
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Successful completion of fingerprint-based background check (initiated by CBNHC HR
• Up-to-date immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hep B, Tdap, annual influenza) and current PPD/TB clearance
• Ability to work the standard schedule (M–F, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM) and rotate into the Thursday late clinic (4:30 – 6:30 PM)
• Willingness to support the Tuesday off-site school clinic at To’Hajiilee Community School
• Cultural sensitivity and respect for the Canoncito Band of Navajos community and IHS care environment
Preferred Qualifications
• IV certification (per New Mexico LPN scope)
• One or more years of LPN experience, preferably in an ambulatory or family practice clinic
• Experience supporting immunization or community health clinics
• Prior IHS, 638
• Ambulatory or outpatient clinic experience
• Experience with electronic health record systems (RPMS or comparable)
