Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical – Topeka, KS 66606

Start Date: July 22, 2026

Location: Topeka, Kansas

Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour (18:45 - 07:15), with option for 36 or 48 hours per week. Weekend coverage required. 12-week assignment.

Highlights:

General medical unit caring for adults and geriatric patients with a variety of medical conditions
Stable remote telemetry monitoring for patients not on cardiac drips
Patient ratio of 5-6 patients per nurse with 24-bed daily census
Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
36-hour orientation provided with 4-6 hours of onsite module training
Flexible scheduling with 36 or 48-hour weekly options

Requirements:

Valid Kansas or Compact RN license required at time of submission
Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
Minimum 2 years of medical surgical nursing experience preferred
Previous travel nursing experience required
Epic charting system experience preferred
Must reside outside 50-mile local radius
Willingness to float to like units within scope as needed
Proficiency in core med/surg skills including IV management, telemetry monitoring, wound care, blood product administration, and management of chest tubes, PICC lines, and central lines
