Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, NICU – Apple Valley, CA 92307

Start Date: August 11, 2026

Location: Apple Valley, California

Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:00 - 06:30). Every other weekend required, may exceed to accommodate unit needs. Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered. Guaranteed hours with facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.

Highlights:

• Level III NICU with 14 beds and approximately 190 births per month
• Acute care hospital with 212 total staffed beds utilizing Epic charting system
• Patient ratios staffed by acuity, up to 1:3 ratio
• May float to Mother/Baby for babies; if couplet experienced, may float fully
• Free parking and comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
• 40 hours of orientation provided

Requirements:

• Active California RN license required prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in Level III NICU specialty (hard stop requirement)
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced (will allow NRP if willing to obtain advanced before start date), PALS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Travel nursing experience required
• LA fire card within the last 30 days required
• Patient ratio experience of 2-3 patients
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years

Clinical Skills Required:

• Administration of blood and blood products, attending high-risk deliveries
• Central line management, PICC line and midline management
• Ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high-frequency ventilation, oscillators
• Titration of Dopamine and Dobutamine, IV vasopressors
• Bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen delivery systems
• UAC/UVC management, arterial line management
• Neonatal dosage calculations, starting and maintaining IVs, phlebotomy
• Care for prematurity, feeders and growers, RDS, NAS, sepsis, hypoglycemia, jaundice
• Experience with neonates 29+ weeks gestational age
• Developmental care, breastfeeding support, thermoregulation

Patient Population:

• Neonates and infants in a Level III NICU setting
• Large Hispanic community served; interpretation services available
• Common diagnoses include prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal abstinence syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, and jaundice
• Facility holds CCS designation
