Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, NICU – Apple Valley, CA 92307
Start Date: September 9, 2026
Location: Apple Valley, California
Schedule: Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (06:00 - 18:30), Friday-Sunday weekend block schedule. Weekend coverage may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs. Guaranteed hours with facility allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
Highlights:
- Level III NICU with 14 beds serving approximately 190 births per month
- 212-bed acute care hospital with Epic charting system and free parking
- Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services
- Patient population includes prematurity, feeders and growers, RDS, NAS, sepsis, hypoglycemia, and jaundice
- Exposure to advanced procedures including central lines, ROP exams, spinal taps, and intubations
- 40-hour orientation provided; may float to Mother/Baby for babies (full float if couplet experience)
Requirements:
- Active Compact RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in NICU specialty (Level III NICU experience required)
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced (or NRP with willingness to obtain Advanced before start), PALS
- Epic charting system experience required
- Community hospital experience required; travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience with patient ratios of 2-3 (ratios may be up to 1-3 based on acuity)
- Proficiency in required skills including administration of blood products, high-frequency ventilation, CPAP/BIPAP, central line management, PICC line management, IV vasopressors, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All time-off requests must be submitted at time of application; scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- 2 professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years required
