Job Opportunity – Critical Care Registered Nurse – Chicago, IL 60631
Start Date: August 31, 2026
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM; every other weekend and every other holiday required; 12-hour orientation provided; floating may be required based on census
Highlights:
- 30-bed Intensive Care Unit specializing in Medical ICU, Neuro ICU, and Surgical ICU at a comprehensive stroke center
- 90-day travel assignment with competitive compensation including overtime and holiday pay
- Advanced critical care experience with complex patient populations including stroke, neuro, cardiac, and surgical patients
- Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology including CRRT, assist devices, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- Three positions available for experienced critical care nurses seeking a challenging and rewarding environment
Requirements:
- Active RN license with Critical Care certification
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- EPIC electronic medical record experience required
- Proficiency in CRRT, CABG, stroke protocols, and TNK administration
- Experience assisting with bedside procedures including intubation/extubation, central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, TEEs, and cardioversions
- Demonstrated competency managing ventilators, BiPAP/AVAPS, oxygen delivery methods, and patients on multiple vasoactive medications
- Experience with general surgical, stroke/neuro, cath lab, and interventional radiology patients; managing sepsis, GI bleed, COPD, CHF, and DKA
- Ability to interpret invasive hemodynamic values (CO/CI/SVV/CVP/SvO2)
- Preferred: Open heart experience (CABG, valve surgeries, AAA), comprehensive stroke experience (EVD, thrombectomy, TNK), assist device management (IABP, Impella, CRRT/Prisma), prone positioning, and paralytic management (TOF/BIS monitoring)
- No time off requests during holidays; weekend coverage required if sick calls occur
