Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, NICU – Eureka, CA 95501

Start Date: September 8, 2026

Location: Eureka, California

Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:00 - 06:00). Patient ratio of 2:1 during days, nights, and weekends. Weekend coverage required per department needs and union contract. May be required to float to postpartum unit.

Highlights:

• Level II NICU specializing in neonates 32 weeks gestation and above
• Daily census of approximately 4 patients in a 5-bed unit
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and rapid response teams
• Experience with high-risk deliveries, CPAP management, UAC/UVC lines, and ventilator management
• 24-hour orientation period with self-scheduling model
• One pre-approved time off period available; must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse license (Compact license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
• Experience with neonates 29-34 weeks and greater than 34 weeks
• Proficiency in breastfeeding support, ventilator management, and UAC/UVC catheter placement
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Clean background check required; no exceptions for background discrepancies
• Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
