Description

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, NICU – Eureka, CA 95501

Start Date: September 21, 2026

Location: Eureka, California

Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (6:00 PM - 6:00 AM). Patient ratio of 2:1 across all shifts. Weekend coverage required per department needs and union contract. One pre-approved time off period available.

Highlights:

  • Level II NICU caring for neonates 32 weeks gestation and above with a daily census of 4 patients in a 5-bed unit
  • Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and rapid response teams
  • Experience with advanced neonatal care including UAC/UVC lines, CPAP management, high flow oxygen, and ventilator management
  • Opportunity to attend high-risk deliveries and provide breastfeeding support
  • Epic charting system preferred; 40 hours of orientation provided
  • Six-month travel assignment with potential to return after a 3-month break

Requirements:

  • Active California RN license or Compact license (must be in hand at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience; at least 1 year required
  • Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE
  • Experience with neonates 29-34 weeks and >34 weeks, Level II NICU care
  • Skills required: ventilator management, UAC/UVC placement, breastfeeding support, and eat-sleep-console protocols
  • Previous charge experience and Epic charting experience preferred
  • Willingness to float to postpartum unit as needed
  • Clean background check required; no exceptions for background findings
  • Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
