Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Step Down – Amarillo, TX 79106

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Schedule: Day shift, 4x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30), with 36 or 48 hour per week options available. Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on daily assignments.

Highlights:

• 13-week travel assignment in a 24-bed intermediate care unit with daily census of 12-14 patients
• Mixed patient population including medical/surgical and intermediate care patients
• First-time travelers welcome with comprehensive 36-hour orientation program
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Adult and geriatric patient populations with telemetry monitoring
• Flexibility to float to medical/surgical units as needed for overflow coverage

Requirements:

• Active Texas or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of step down or intermediate care nursing experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Experience with patient ratios of 5-6 patients preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Must reside outside 50-mile radius from the area
• Willingness to accept medical/surgical assignments during overflow situations
