Description

Job Opportunity – Emergency Room Nurse – State College, PA 16801

Start Date: September 23, 2026

Location: State College, Pennsylvania

Schedule: Evening shift, 12-hour shifts (1045-2315 and/or 1445-0315), 36 guaranteed hours per week, 91-day assignment through December 23, 2026. Subject to scheduled on-call assignments as needed based on community event influence on patient volumes.

Highlights:

  • Provide professional emergency nursing care for patients across the lifespan from neonate through geriatric populations
  • Utilize Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards and the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Triage patients entering the emergency care system and determine priorities based on physical and psychosocial needs
  • Manage patient flow through hourly rounding in the department and half-hour rounding in the waiting room
  • Preference given to candidates with EPIC computer charting experience
  • Collaborate as a team member and liaison between patients, families, and staff in a fast-paced emergency environment

Requirements:

  • Current Pennsylvania RN licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through American Heart Association
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through American Heart Association
  • Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills with professional demeanor
  • Ability to demonstrate mental and emotional tolerance when working with diverse patient populations
