Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, NICU – Apple Valley, CA 92307

Start Date: October 20, 2026

Location: Apple Valley, California

Schedule: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:00 - 06:30). Weekend coverage required, averaging every other weekend but may exceed to accommodate unit needs. Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.

Highlights:

• Level III NICU with 14 beds serving approximately 190 births per month
• Patient ratios of 2-3 patients per nurse, staffed by acuity
• 212-bed acute care hospital with Epic charting system
• May float to Mother/Baby unit for babies; full float possible if couplet experience is present

• Orientation includes 36-40 hours of comprehensive training

Requirements:

• Active Compact RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year in NICU specialty
• Level III NICU experience required (hard stop requirement)
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP Advanced (or NRP with willingness to obtain Advanced before start), PALS
• Epic charting system experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers accepted
• Experience with central lines, PICC line and midline management, titrating vasopressors (Dopamine, Dobutamine), high-frequency ventilation, and oscillators
• Must be able to work 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• Two professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years
• Clean background check required; no exceptions for background findings

You'll gain experience managing complex neonatal cases including prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and more. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, and social services. All time-off requests must be submitted at the time of application and are subject to facility approval. Guaranteed hours are provided, with the facility allowed to call off one shift per two-week period. Candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered at a local rate.
