Description

Registered Nurse (Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract

Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Requirements

Minimum 1.5 years nursing experience
Previous travel experience required
Certifications required:
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
Epic electronic health record experience required
Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 5 patients
Unit size: 14 patient rooms/beds
Patient diagnoses include cardiac observation and post-surgical observation

Skills Required

Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
Remote patient monitoring
Starting IVs

Preferred Skills

Cardiac telemetry
ER holding
Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Phlebotomy
Heparin protocols
Use of nasal cannula and portable oxygen tanks

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
Education verification (highest level) required
Work history verification for 7 years required

Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
PALS, BLS required
Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP), Chemotherapy (CHEMO), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) as applicable
State license verification and NURSYS verification required
Orientation safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance

Competencies

Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% score)
Color blind testing (online)
Core competency exams (annual requirement for subcontractors)

Health Requirements

Physical exam within 12 months of start
Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
