Job Description

• Strong Neuro experience required
• Patient population includes Cardiovascular, Multi-trauma, Gun Shots, Stroke and STEMI Center, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Orthopedics, and 12 Overflow beds
• Level 2 Trauma Center, Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center with high acuity neuro population
• Experience with STEMI receiving, CABG/Valve/IABP, CRRT, Sepsis, Surgical patients
• Floating required between PCU and ICU overflow units
• Weekend shifts not required
• Locals accepted
• Start Date: ASAP
• Minimum Experience: 2 years
• First-timers not accepted
• On-call not required

Required Certifications

• ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
• BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required every 2 years)
• LA Fire Card (must be obtained prior to or within 30 days of start)
• Other certifications may be required based on unit and clinical track (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO, EFM, CPI)

Licensure

• Valid California RN license required (NURSYS verification required)
• Pending licenses not accepted
• Must comply with state-specific licensing and background requirements

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Education verification required for all candidates
• Drug screen (10 panel) within 90 days of start, no instant tests accepted
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
• Respirator fit testing required for travel starts (updated annually)
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within last 3 years

Training and Competency

• Must complete Providence Health and Services WorkRamp modules prior to start, including:

  • Core modules for RN/LVN in California
  • Specialty-specific modules based on unit assignment (e.g., ICU, ED, L&D)
  • Annual regulatory requirements
• Epic training modules required and must be completed ASAP after Providence access is granted
• Competency exams as applicable (medication, pharmacology, fetal monitoring, etc.)

• Floating policy acknowledgment required (may float to other Providence facilities nearby)
• Must comply with all Providence Health and Services policies and procedures
• Locals accepted; no pending license acceptance
• Contract length: 13 weeks
