Job Opportunity: CIC Infection Prevention Specialist (Laboratory)

Location: Spokane, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• No holidays or weekends required
• No on-call or block schedules
• No floating between units

Job Requirements

• Must have CIC (Certification in Infection Control) from CBIC
• Acute care hospital experience required across multiple service lines including:

  • Surgery
  • NICU
  • Cardiac
  • Critical Care
  • Emergency Room (ER)

• CIC (mandatory)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Chemotherapy Certification (if applicable)
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification (if applicable)
• IV Certification (LVN/LPN/Other)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
• State Professional Licenses and verifications (NURSYS for RNs, LPNs)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Background Check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
• Education Verification required for all candidates
• State-specific searches for Washington and Oregon as applicable
• Drug Testing: 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
• Employment Application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
• Skills Checklists as applicable, updated annually

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required for travel candidates, updated annually
• Immunizations and documentation required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
• Respiratory Safety Clearance for respirator use, medically cleared annually

Competency and Training Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
• Competency Exams relevant to specialty
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) training for L&D RNs (effective 9/30/2024)
• WorkRamp LMS Modules:

  • Pre-Start Requirements for all caregivers (except some non-clinical roles)
  • Specialty and Regional Core Modules as applicable
  • Annual Regulatory Modules required for all candidates
  • Epic training modules required for Spokane candidates

• Floating Policy Acknowledgement required (may be asked to float to other Providence facilities nearby)
• Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
• All documentation and certifications must be current and uploaded as per facility and system requirements
