Description
Occupational Therapist - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Walla Walla, Washington
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Position floats between units
- No on-call required
- No weekend or block schedules required
- Expected patient load: 9-11 patients per day
- Acute care experience required
- Inpatient rehab experience preferred but not required
- Must be a self-starter, able to keep schedule full and work well with the team
- Strong communication skills necessary
Facility Information
- Type: Short Term Acute Care / Level III Trauma Center
- Total staffed beds: 104
- Charting system: Epic
- Scrub color: Any color allowed on all units
- Parking: No fee
Required Credentials & Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Education verification required for all candidates
- State-specific searches and registry checks as applicable (e.g., WA State Patrol Search, OBRA Registry for CNAs)
- Professional licenses and certifications must be current and verified
- References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years (6 months for CNAs)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Pediatric Society
- Other certifications as required by specialty or unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask testing (N95 or equivalent) required for travel candidates, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Competency exams required by profession/specialty
- Color blindness testing if required by unit
- Facility-specific training modules via WorkRamp LMS platform (pre-start and annual regulatory modules)
- Epic training modules completion required prior to or shortly after start
Additional Notes
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Physical and health document expiration dates are strictly enforced
- Candidates must maintain compliance with all Providence Health and Services policies and procedures
