Job Opportunity: Echo Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Apple Valley, California
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital

Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Echo Tech)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 10-hour day shifts
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 10 patients per tech (95% adults, 8-10/day; 1-2 pediatric patients)
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, on-call rotation including some weekdays and weekends
  • Floating: No floating between units required
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per pay period (2 weeks)
  • Must Have: Pediatric experience and infant experience (HARD STOP)

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Current certification from AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society
  • State License: Must have a valid California professional license (CPDH Certificate required for Respiratory Therapists)
  • Other Certifications:
    • Chemotherapy (if applicable)
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (if applicable)
    • IV Certification (LVN/LPN/Other, if applicable)
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) (if applicable)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • E-Verify attestation required
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • State-specific searches (Washington and Oregon) if applicable
  • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
  • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required for travel candidates, updated annually
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within the last 3 years
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Training & Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency exams as required by specialty
  • Color Blind Testing (if required by unit)
  • Skills checklist updated annually (clinical specialties)
  • Specialty-specific WorkRamp training modules assigned based on region, profession, and specialty (required for travel and per diem)
  • Epic training modules completion required (for applicable roles)

Additional Notes

  • Float policy acknowledgment may be required (facility may require floating to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
  • Badge photo required (passport style with neutral background)
  • Facility uses Epic for charting and documentation
  • Free parking available onsite

This position is ideal for experienced Echo Techs with strong pediatric and infant experience, comfortable with a fast-paced acute care environment, and able to work on-call weekends and some weekdays. Compliance with Providence Health and Services credentialing, background, and training requirements is mandatory.
