Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Job

Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: First shift with call, staggered start time between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, 8 hours/day, Monday through Friday
  • Call Requirement: Weekends and evenings/nights on call rotation (primary and backup)
  • Float Requirement: None
  • Daily Case Load: 13-17 cases
  • Patient Age Group: Majority adults and geriatrics, some adolescents
  • Unit Details: Inpatient hospital setting with neuro (including stroke intervention) and body procedures
  • Equipment: Siemens and Phillips x-ray equipment experience required; Acuson preferred
  • Orientation: Hospital orientation during week one; full availability Monday through Friday of the first week required with no other commitments to accommodate schedule changes

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Years of Experience: 1 year in specialty (Radiology/Cardiology)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Skills:
    • Vascular studies/procedures
    • Neuro experience including stroke and body work
    • Inpatient hospital experience
    • PACS and contrast use
    • All Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures including stents, angioplasty, angiograms, nephrograms, kyphoplasty, peripherals, biopsies, drainages (upper/lower extremity, abdomen, pelvic, genitourinary), vascular studies, venous access, neurological studies
    • Experience with Siemens and Phillips x-ray equipment required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)

Preferred Skills & Certifications

  • ARRT Advanced Certification preferred
  • Experience with EPIC and Visage systems preferred
  • Experience in outpatient, OR, ER, Level I trauma, community hospital settings
  • Experience with Ablations

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering local, federal, national databases, DOJ sex offender search, and education verification for highest degree earned
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (10-panel negative screen required)
  • Fit testing for N95 mask or completion of PAPR training (if fit test failed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (or within 30 days if past positive TB)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per protocol
  • Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or facility-specific declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • State-specific searches and registry verifications within 90 days prior to start (North Carolina Healthcare Registry and Division of Medical Assistance)

Orientation & Training Requirements

  • Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation modules (up to 8 hours) prior to start
  • Medication Safety module completion required with certificate of completion
  • Competency exams as applicable, including color blindness test and medication/pharmacology competency
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain specialties (not applicable here)
  • Radiation badge required for Radiology Techs and related specialties
  • Additional facility-specific documents and agreements required prior to start

Additional Notes

  • RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
  • Travelers must be fully available during orientation week with no other commitments
  • Scrubs are provided

This position is ideal for experienced Radiology/Cardiology professionals with prior travel experience who are comfortable with a fast-paced inpatient hospital environment and advanced interventional procedures.
