Job Opportunity: Surgical Services (Travel/Contract)

  • Call every 6 weeks
  • 2 weeknights from 11 PM to 7 AM
  • 1 x 48-hour weekend from Saturday 7 AM to Monday 7 AM
• Shift Details:

  • Start time varies between 6:00 AM and 6:45 AM
  • One Saturday day shift (8 hours) with weekly rotation
• Preferred Experience: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics
• Preferred Skills: Assembly/Wrap/Mako Robot/Eye cases scrub
• Required Skills: Case Cart/Scrub/DaVinci Xi & Laparoscopic Scrub
• Floating: May be required to float to a nearby facility within reasonable distance
• Locals Accepted: Yes (with adjusted pay)

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
• Other certifications may be required based on unit and specialty (verify with clinical track):

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • Chemotherapy Certification (if applicable)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification (if applicable)
  • IV Certification (LVN/LPN/Other)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Experience & References

• Minimum 3 years of specialty experience required
• Prior travel experience NOT explicitly required
• Minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• References must be from supervisors (charge RNs acceptable if direct supervisors)

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required and must be updated annually (not required for Sterile Processing Techs)
• Immunizations/Vaccinations:

  • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within 10 years or declination accepted
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer or declination
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
• 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests accepted)

Background & Compliance

• Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Education verification required for all candidates
• State-specific searches and registry checks as applicable
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
• Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
• Various facility-specific and regional compliance modules required via WorkRamp LMS platform prior to start

Additional Notes

• May be required to float to a nearby facility within the Providence system
• Must comply with Providence float policy acknowledgment
• Epic training modules required for access and must be completed promptly after orientation
• Modules and certifications must be maintained and updated as per Providence Health and Services policies
