Job Opportunity: Nursing - Labor & Delivery Nurse

Location: Port Lavaca, Texas
Facility: Memorial Medical Center (25-bed Critical Access Hospital)
Employment Type: Contract (Approximately 14 weeks)

Facility & Location Details

• Memorial Medical Center is a small, rural hospital with a 25-bed capacity.
• Located in Port Lavaca, TX, within a 2-3 hour drive of Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Corpus Christi.
• The Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit is designated Level One for Maternal and Neonatal Care.
• The area has a large transient population due to ongoing plant construction.

Job Description

• Seeking a nurse experienced in rural healthcare settings.
• Strong assessment skills and experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) are essential.
• The L&D department typically operates with a 2-person staffing model.
• Staff are generally cross-trained in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum (PP), and nursery roles.
• The department averages 15-20 deliveries per month.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used: OBIX.

Additional Information

• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS/BCLS, PALS, NRP, ATT
• Housing can be challenging due to local construction and tourism; RV accommodations are often the best option for travelers.

This position is ideal for nurses with rural healthcare experience who are comfortable working in a small, versatile L&D unit.
