Certified Surgical Technician (CST/ORT) - Travel Position

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Facility: CHRISTUS St Vincent Regional Medical Center (CHRISTUS HEALTH system)
Employment Type: Travel

Position Summary

An integral member of the surgical team providing support for surgeons during operations by preparing, providing, and caring for instruments and equipment while maintaining a sterile field.

Shift & Schedule

• Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
• Start Date: November 2, 2025
• Call/Weekend Requirements:

  • 1-2 call nights per week
  • 1-2 24-hour weekend call shifts per schedule
• Float to other departments as needed

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred

Certifications/Licenses

• BLS certification from AHA required
• Surgical Tech certification required

Experience

• Preferred: One or more years in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or instrument care environment

Skills

• Knowledge of care and handling of surgical instruments and equipment
• Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures
• Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English

Physical & Work Environment

• Heavy physical effort: standing, walking, lifting most of the day
• Exposure to bloodborne pathogens; adherence to Universal Precautions and use of protective equipment required
• Must be able to speak, hear, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
