Nursing Contract Position - Washington (Moses Lake)

Position Summary

  • Function as both caregiver and care manager.
  • Responsible for a group of patients, implementing the Nursing Process.
  • Oversee and direct work of other caregivers through delegation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
  • Make decisions based on sound judgment.
  • May function as Charge Nurse, including delegation, coordinating staff coverage, assisting with admits/discharges/transfers, and problem-solving.

Essential Functions

  • Perform patient assessments focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status.
  • Implement care according to policies and care plans.
  • Identify and address patient learning needs.
  • Document patient care per regulatory requirements.
  • Delegate patient care activities and supervise coworkers.
  • Organize and prioritize using critical thinking.
  • Adhere to safety requirements including infection control, equipment use, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain professional growth through continuing education.
  • Conduct self professionally and maintain appropriate appearance.

Work Environment

  • Collaborate closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians.
  • Report to Nursing Department Director, House Supervisor, Charge Nurse, and other supervisory staff.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Washington State RN Licensure.
  • Healthcare Provider Level BLS certification (AHA or equivalent) within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Experience as an acute care registered nurse.
  • Preferred: Minimum 1 year of RN experience in specialty nursing departments.
  • Critical thinking, accountability, crisis management, and competency in patient care across age continuum required.

Certifications (Emergency Department Specific)

  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire; renew every 2 years.
  • PALS certification within 12 months of hire; renew every 2 years.
  • TNCC certification within 12 months of hire; renew every 4 years.
  • Moderate sedation training within 12 months of hire; annual renewal.
  • Emergency Department-CEN certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs; physical strength to assist with heavier lifting (60-300 lbs) with assistance.
  • Manual dexterity to manage equipment and invasive lines for 8-12 hour shifts.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient data and documentation tools.
  • Emotional stability to handle high stress, fast-paced environment, and emotional demands.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Contract Length

  • 8 weeks

Additional Information

  • Up to 24 hours of call off available during the assignment at no cost to the facility.

Prior Travel Experience: Not specified (no explicit requirement for prior travel experience).
Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year RN experience preferred.
