Job Opportunity: Pediatric Occupational Therapist (Travel/Contract)

Location: Apple Valley, California
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Pediatric OT)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 8-hour day shifts (10-hour days optional)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Daily Patient Load: 7 patients
  • Floating: No floating between units required
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • RTO (Request Time Off): All holiday RTO submitted as preferences; must be included at time of submission; approval based on facility needs
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Years of Experience Required: Enough to be proficient and independent (no explicit number given)

Required Experience

  • Must hold appropriate state license for California (CPDH Certificate required for Respiratory Therapists, if applicable)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (if applicable)
  • Other certifications as required by clinical track or unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • IV Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
  • National certification verification for allied professionals as applicable

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Education verification required for all candidates
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Respirator safety clearance required for travel candidates (annual)
  • Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (annual)

Competency & Skills

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Competency exams required by specialty/unit
  • Color Blind Testing if required by unit
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

References & Employment History

  • Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting (6 months for CNAs)
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors) with month/year format for dates worked
  • Clarification required for any gaps or overlaps in employment

Facility & System Specific Training

  • Completion of Providence WorkRamp Core and Specialty Modules prior to start (assigned by Clinical Staffing)
  • Epic training modules required for charting system access
  • Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules required
  • Floating policy acknowledgment may be required

Additional Notes

  • All scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
  • RTO restrictions strictly enforced; all time off requests must be submitted upfront
  • Facility allows for one shift call-off every two weeks
  • No on-call or floating required for this position
