Job Opportunity: Pharmacist - Pharmacy (Travel)

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient distribution of pharmaceutical agents to patients of all ages, hospital employees, and designated hospital areas.
• Practice in accordance with all state/federal and DEA laws, TJC Standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians on drug selection and dosing.
• Educate nursing staff, patients, and physicians regarding medications.
• Participate in Medication Safety initiatives.
• Manage patient profiles and report adverse drug reactions.
• Mix IV admixtures and nutritional supplements.
• Maintain narcotic accountability.

Work Schedule

• Shift: 7 Nights On / 7 Nights Off, 8:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Workdays: Wednesday through Tuesday
• No on-call required
• No 48-hour guarantee or blocked scheduling options

Requirements

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Arizona Pharmacist License (required)
  • ACLS & BLS certification (required)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years recent hospital pharmacist experience (required)
  • Board certification and/or accredited pharmacy residency preferred but not required
  • Inpatient acute hospital experience required
  • Sterile compounding experience required
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
• Operational and people management skills to ensure patient satisfaction, quality improvement, and employee engagement.
• Comfortable working in a clean, smoke-free, well-lit healthcare environment with frequent use of video display and keyboard.
• Able to handle irregular hours and unpredictable clinical situations, including emergency care requiring sound judgment and action.

Facility Information

• Unit size: 44 beds plus Emergency Department
• Electronic Medical Record system: Cerner
• Pharmacy open on recognized holidays

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work independently and meet multiple project deadlines.
• Exposure to unpleasant clinical elements such as accidents, injuries, and illness is expected.
• Frequent interruptions and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
