Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Orange, California

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to work in a large acute care hospital setting. This is a travel contract position requiring the ability to circulate in the L&D unit.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery RN experience (hard stop, no exceptions)
• Experience in large hospital settings highly preferred
• No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)

Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Intermediate required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC-EFM acceptable)

Skills

• Must be able to circulate in the Labor and Delivery unit

Shift Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts
• Hours: 07:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• Weekends may exceed every other weekend to accommodate unit needs
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
• Travel pairs not accepted

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Must include SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), and international background search if applicable
• Background must be updated annually
• Open/active felony cases or more than one DUI charge will result in cancellation

Licenses and Verifications

• Valid RN license for California (pending licenses not accepted)
• NURSYS verification required
• State-specific searches as applicable

Health and Immunizations

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination acceptable)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual update required)
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
• Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
• Varicella vaccination or positive titer
• Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
• COVID vaccine or declination

Drug Testing

• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant tests not accepted)

References and Employment History

• Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years

Training and Competency Requirements

Competency Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Skills checklist updated annually

WorkRamp Modules (Mandatory)

• Core regulatory and specialty-specific modules assigned via WorkRamp LMS platform
• Modules must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter
• Epic training modules required for Epic access

Additional Notes

• Local radius for this position is 50 miles
• Facility may call off once per pay period (2 weeks)
• Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
