Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) - Sitka, Alaska

Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years nursing experience preferred (clinical nurse experience)
- Prior travel experience not required
Licensure & Certifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska required at time of submission
- Must have BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications on hire
- Additional certifications such as TNCC/ATCN and NRP required within first 6 months and bi-annually thereafter depending on specialty area
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients of all ages, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
- Float between Med/Surg, Emergency Department (ED), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as needed
- Independently make clinical decisions and maintain accountability for nursing actions during shifts
- Delegate and supervise CNA/Tech staff appropriately
- Perform nursing assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and document patient progress
- Administer medications and therapeutics accurately according to age-specific guidelines
- Respond calmly and effectively in emergent situations, including life-saving interventions
- Educate patients, families, and staff; participate in patient care conferences and in-service training
- Communicate effectively and supportively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
- Participate in unit goal setting, staff meetings, and maintain compliance with policies and procedures
Requirements & Conditions
- Must have or obtain flu vaccine
- Willingness to work both day and night shifts as necessary
- Must submit 2 fingerprint cards upon acceptance
- Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility (travelers only)
- No housing or flights provided
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of nursing care principles, assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Ability to recognize and respond to emergent patient conditions promptly
- Familiarity with pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and specialty nursing procedures (e.g., intubations, arterial line setup)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Leadership and teamwork abilities to guide and support other staff members
This position offers a dynamic nursing role requiring flexibility, clinical expertise, and the ability to work independently across multiple specialty areas within a hospital setting.
