Job Opportunity: ER Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Chewelah, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Schedule: Part-time, 0.7 FTE (56 hours per 2 weeks)
  • Shift Length: 8-hour shifts
  • Floating: Position floats between units
  • On-call: Not required
  • Weekends: Required every other weekend
  • Block Schedules: Not required
  • Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:6-7
  • Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital
  • Total Staff Beds: 23
  • Charting System: Epic

Experience & Requirements

  • Specialty: ER Tech
  • Required Experience: Minimum 1 year of ER experience (preferably in a rural hospital ER setting)
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Preferred: Familiarity with rural hospital ER patient populations

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Must have a background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
    • Includes SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable), and international background if applicable
    • Background checks must be updated annually
  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • BLS certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation accepted)
    • Other certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc., may be required depending on clinical track but not mandatory for this role unless specified
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Immunizations and screenings including:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
      • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
      • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
      • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
      • Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
      • COVID vaccine or declination
    • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
    • Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024
  • References:
    • Minimum of 2 supervisor references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment Application:
    • Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates worked
  • Skills Checklist:
    • Required for applicable units and must be updated annually

Additional Requirements

  • Floating Policy: Acknowledgement required; may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with neutral background required
  • Training Modules:
    • Completion of required WorkRamp modules including:
      • Annual Regulatory Requirements
      • Specialty Specific Modules for ER Tech
      • Basics of Trauma Informed Care (required at this facility)
    • Epic training modules required within a week of orientation
  • State Specific Requirements:
    • Washington State Patrol Search (WSP/WATCH) within 90 days of start, updated every 2 years for certain facility types
    • OBRA Registry Search for CNAs (not applicable for ER Tech)

Summary

This is a part-time travel ER Tech position in a rural critical access hospital in Washington. The role requires at least 1 year of ER experience, BLS certification, and the ability to float between units. Candidates must comply with comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and complete required training modules. Weekend work every other weekend is expected, with no on-call duties.
