Job Opportunity: Progressive Care Unit Nurse (RN)

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with 15 beds:

  • 3 Step-down ICU beds
  • 12 telemetry beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:

  • 1:4 in Progressive Care
  • 1:3 in Step-down ICU

Schedule

• Scheduled 36 hours per week after first week of orientation
• No guaranteed hours
• No on-call required

Job Duties

• Primary nursing care
• Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
• Fingerstick blood sugar testing
• Use of equipment including Meditech charting system, Pyxis medication system, BIPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring

Required Qualifications

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment (travelers must apply upon acceptance if not currently licensed)
• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience (at least 1 year hospital acute care within the last year; progressive care and telemetry experience preferred)
• ACLS certification preferred
• Current PALS certification preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred

Additional Information

• Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
• Floating required to other acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER
• Dress code: Scrubs
