Job Opportunity: RN - Med Surg (Travel)

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico

Shift: Days, 7 AM - 7 PM
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide routine and complex nursing care in a medical-surgical setting with patients including ortho, joint replacements, fractures, shoulders, and podiatry cases. Practice independently while managing clinical situations, delegating tasks, and addressing psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Administer medications and treatments, monitor effectiveness and side effects, document patient information, and provide education to patients and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation).
• Manage complex patient needs and clinical contingencies.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor patient response.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and educate patients, families, and caregivers.
• Meet applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies (Leader of Self, Others, or Leaders).

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in medical-surgical nursing specialty.
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico or compact license.
  • BLS certification (AHA only).

Additional Information

• Patient population includes ortho, joint replacements, fractures, shoulders, and podiatry cases.
• This is a backfill replacement position with an ASAP start date.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
