Description

Job Opportunity: Transitional Care Unit Nurse (Hilo, Hawaii)

Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Hours: Scheduled 36 hours per week following first full week of orientation
Shifts: Various shift lengths and days; flexibility required; no guarantee of hours or shift preference

Job Description

Work in a 32-bed Transitional Care Unit (TCU)
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:8 with 1:6 aides during the day, 1:8 at night
May float to Medical-Surgical and Surgical Pediatrics units
Equipment used includes Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, chest tubes, tube feeding (NG/G-Tubes), trach care, PICC/PORT
Professional nursing attire required
Orientation provided for each unit

Required Qualifications

Specialty: Nursing (Transitional Care Unit)
Experience: 2 to 10 years nursing experience (use 10 years as the required minimum)
Licenses/Certifications:
- Active Hawaii State Nursing License required by start of assignment
- BLS required
- ACLS not required unless agency mandates it
Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start
Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday

Additional Information

Flexibility to work varied shifts and days is essential
No prior travel experience explicitly required for this position
