Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Santa Rosa, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Minimum 2 years of labor and delivery experience required (hard stop: labor and post-partum experience mandatory)
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Shift options include 4x12 hour shifts upon request
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Floating between similar units required
• Locals and pending licenses are not accepted
• Guaranteed hours with facility able to call off once per two-week pay period
• Charting system: Epic

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• AWHONN Intermediate
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Preferred Certification:

• AWHONN Advanced

Required Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for California

Facility Type

• Acute Care Hospital
• Total staffed beds: 277

Scheduling and Uniform

• No block scheduling
• Scrub colors: Royal Blue or Navy Blue for RNs
• Pediatric RNs: Pediatric-friendly top with royal or navy blue bottoms
• Other departments have specific scrub colors provided

Required Documents and Compliance

• I-9, Government-Issued Photo ID, Social Security Card
• Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Education verification required (nursing degree)
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Respirator clearance required annually for travel candidates
• Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (updated annually)

Training and Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring (EFM) training required for all L&D RNs (can be met by certification or assessment exam)
• Annual regulatory and specialty-specific modules required via LMS platform (WorkRamp)
• Epic system training modules required

References and Employment History

• Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units

Additional Notes

• Float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to other similar units)
• Orientation and training must be completed prior to start
• No pending licenses accepted
• Locals not accepted for this travel contract

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including Post Partum experience
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• AWHONN Intermediate certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
