Job Summary

The Physical Therapist implements patient rehabilitation programs to improve mobility, function, and strength in an outpatient/rehabilitation clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients through physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
• Guide and monitor patient care throughout treatment and follow-up.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides in all aspects of patient care.
• Communicate with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure quality care.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation and follow up on prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
• Ensure patient comfort and answer questions as needed.
• Collaborate with front office staff regarding scheduling and patient follow-up.
• Make independent decisions regarding patient care.
• Participate in business marketing and referral processes when necessary.
• Adhere to HIPAA policies and procedures to protect patient privacy.
• Be familiar with billing policies and procedures, including Medicare, workers’ compensation, private insurance, and cash pay.
• Proficient in diagnosis and ICD-10 coding for billing services.
• Maintain physical mobility to perform duties including sitting, walking, standing for 8-10 hour days, lifting up to 50 pounds, assisting patients with mobility and transfers, and providing stand-by assistance for walking safety.
• Comply with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.

Physical Demands

• Frequent walking, sitting, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to lift over 50 pounds and assist patients with mobility restraints and transfers.
• Constant alertness for patient safety.

Supervisory Responsibility

• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides regarding patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Physical Therapy.
• Active Physical Therapist license in the state of California or plans to obtain licensure soon.

Preferred Qualifications

• Continuing education courses in Physical Therapy.

Travel Requirements

• No travel required for this position.

Additional Information

• Must maintain and update PT skills and certifications as necessary.
• Expected to participate in privacy training and uphold patient confidentiality standards.
