Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department is responsible for coordinating nursing care for patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric. The RN performs direct patient care, triage, documentation, and collaborates with providers and ancillary services to ensure efficient and quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across all age groups.
• Perform triage using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5-level process.
• Document nursing care and patient responses accurately and legally.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members and outside agencies to optimize patient care.
• Prioritize and coordinate care for multiple patients to maintain patient flow.
• Communicate patient needs clearly and advocate for patients.
• Participate in professional development and complete required education and audits.
• Assess patient and family knowledge and discharge needs.
• Monitor life support and technical equipment; administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and perform emergency resuscitation.
• Respond calmly and efficiently in crisis situations, delegating as appropriate.
• Comply with legal and transfer protocols to protect patient rights.
• Maintain equipment, supplies, and documentation.
• Provide educational experiences for pre-hospital emergency providers and students.

Required Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Current Wisconsin Registered Nursing license or active Compact Licensure.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC required; ATCN preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week
• Rotating Day (7 AM - 7 PM) and Mid Shift (10 AM - 10 PM)
• Every 3rd weekend rotation
