Director of Nursing / RN Unit Supervisor - Skilled Nursing / Long-Term Care

Location: Janesville, Wisconsin

Job Description

Seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) for a Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care facility. This role includes:

• Approximately 80 hours per 2 weeks
• Variable day shift hours with 24/7 accountability
• Unit director with shift accountability, responsible for coordinating and facilitating nursing care activities to improve continuity of care across the continuum
• Assist with developing and implementing policies and procedures to meet Federal and State regulatory requirements
• Provide continuing education to ensure staff competency
• Provide consultative direction and expertise in nursing services, quality maintenance, and improvement programs
• Team leader responsible for hiring, training, evaluation, assignment, and delegation of nursing staff duties within budget and census guidelines
• Act as patient advocate and resource to patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
• Responsible for completing, evaluating, and reporting monthly quality data (falls, skin, psychotropic medications, chart compliance)
• Provide leadership and vision by developing and maintaining departmental objectives, nursing standards, policies, and procedures
• Plan, coordinate, and implement new nursing techniques and objectives
• Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to ensure continuity of care
• Oversee assessment, coordination, planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation in case management
• Organize resident care programs including interdisciplinary teams and restorative care programs
• Foster an environment supporting resident rights and choices
• Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce department policies
• Participate in budget process and maintain monthly expense records
• Guide and enforce proper infection control practices

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• BSN required upon hire
• 2 to 4 years of supervisory experience in long term care nursing or demonstrated leadership/management experience in a long term care facility
• Working knowledge of reimbursement systems and State and Federal regulations within Long Term Care and The Joint Commission (TJC)
• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Wisconsin
• Approved CPR certification required within 90 days of hire
• Additional certifications per unit requirements may include ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP
