Job Opportunity: Speech Language Pathologist - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Inpatient Rehab Speech Language Pathologist
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (40 hours/week)
- Weekend Requirement: Approximately 2 weekend days per month (if not part of regular schedule)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Facility Type: Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospital
- Patient Population: Stroke, Spinal Cord Injuries, Brain Injuries, Neurological Disorders, Orthopedic Conditions, Amputations
- Unit Size: 10 Bed LTACH/ICU and 46 Bed Inpatient Rehabilitation (Total 56 staffed beds)
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Alaska
- Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience in a Rehabilitation setting
Additional Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Drug Testing: 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations/Vaccinations:
- TDAP within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B - vaccination series or signed declination (Alaska placements require positive titer and vaccine series)
- Flu Vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID Vaccine or declination required
- Respirator Clearance: Required annually for travel candidates
- Fit Mask Testing: Required for travel candidates, updated annually
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format
Training and Competency
- Required Modules: Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules must be completed prior to start and annually thereafter
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency as applicable
- Skills Checklist: Required and must be updated annually
Notes
- Weekend shifts required approximately 2 days per month
- No floating outside scope of practice
- Pending license accepted but preference for active Alaska license
- Locals not accepted (must be at least 50 miles away)
- First-time travelers accepted
