Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: Nights
Schedule Options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
Number of Rooms/Beds: 10
Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical specialty
Prior travel experience is not required
Epic electronic health record experience within the last 6 months is preferred

Required Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as applicable
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as applicable
Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP) as applicable
Chemotherapy certification as applicable
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) as applicable
Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) as applicable

Licensure

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
Primary source online license verification required

Compliance & Background Requirements

7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
Education verification required (highest level)
Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
Required immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season

Additional Requirements

Physical exam within 12 months of start
Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
Color blind testing required
Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
Complete application/resume and 7-year work history verification required
Clear headshot photo for badge

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Notes

Orientation and fingerprinting may be required onsite for certain locations
Onsite drug screening during orientation with zero tolerance for failure
Candidates must comply with all health and safety documentation and testing requirements

This position offers a structured travel nursing opportunity with a focus on medical-surgical care during night shifts, requiring a minimum of one year of RN experience and various certifications to ensure quality patient care and compliance.
