Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in two endovascular hybrid suites within the operating room.
- Assist surgeons during endovascular cases by scrubbing in.
- Operate and maintain Siemens equipment and use PACS for imaging.
- Occasionally run a c-arm in open rooms for vascular surgeons during open vascular cases.
- Maintain equipment, inventory, and stock supplies.
- Perform and assist with various vascular and interventional radiology procedures including angioplasty, stent placement, embolization, dialysis graft interventions, thrombolysis/thrombectomy, and vascular access procedures.
- Use sterile technique and isolation precautions.
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 0630-1700.
- Call requirement: One night per week and every third weekend.
- Ratio: 1:1.
- RTO (Return to Office) policy: Maximum 7 days allowed.
- Contract staff may be required to participate in storm/hurricane teams or respond to catastrophic events.
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in North Carolina
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel assignment
- ARRT certification: ARRT (R and VI) or ARRT (R and CV)
- Experience in laser-assisted procedures
- Experience in angioplasty
- Experience in aortography
- Experience in embolization
- Experience in endograft placement
- Experience in inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement and removal
- Experience in inferior vena cavogram
- Experience in mesenteric angiogram
- Experience in pelvic angiography
Required Certifications
- ARRT (R and VI OR R and CV)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics.
Orientation & Training
- Unit orientation: 2 weeks (80 hours).
- Scrubs provided.
- Must complete required facility-specific education and compliance training prior to start.
Compliance & Background Checks
- Background checks required within 90 days of start, including local, federal, national criminal databases, sex offender search, and education verification.
- Drug screening required within 30 days of start.
- Fit testing for N95 mask or PAPR training required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, additional requirements apply.
- Immunizations and titers required for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
- TB screening and chest x-ray requirements apply.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for travel and acute care allied/per diem.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules and annual compliance training.
- Must sign confidentiality agreement and other facility-required documents.
- May be required to complete medication safety and other competency exams.
- Radiation badge required for this role.
- Must comply with facility dress code and policies.
- Must be prepared to work in a sterile environment and maintain sterile fields.
Important Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking is allowed onsite.
- Call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
- Contract staff may be reassigned mid-contract as needed.
- Candidates must be prepared to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with complex vascular procedures.
This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology professionals with prior travel contract experience seeking a challenging and rewarding travel assignment in North Carolina.
