Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Torrance, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must be flexible working weekends (weekend requirements depend on contract length)
• Precepting skills preferred
• Support AM shift primarily
• May be required to float to mother-baby units and nearby facilities within a reasonable distance
• Local candidates within a 50-mile radius considered
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion
• First-time travelers accepted

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
• AWHONN Advanced Certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates required)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Fit mask test (annual, travel only)
• Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
• Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment
• Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)

Competencies and Training

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN or NCC) or completion of fetal heart rate monitoring assessment exam
• Facility-specific and regional mandatory training modules (completed via LMS platform) prior to start and annually thereafter
• Epic system training modules required

Floating Policy

• May be required to float to other units or nearby facilities within a reasonable distance

• Pending licenses are not accepted
• Guaranteed hours with facility able to call off once per two-week pay period

• Scrub color: any color acceptable

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses who are flexible, enjoy working in acute care settings, and are open to floating between mother-baby and labor & delivery units.
