Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – PCU Nights
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Bed Count: 55 beds on unit
- Patient Population: Cardiovascular patients (Cardiovascular experience required)
- Staffing Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Weekend Requirement: As needed, rotating schedule
- Float Requirement: Yes
- On Call Requirement: None
- Scheduling: Block scheduling considered on a case-by-case basis
- Scrub Color: Any (no logos)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Licensure
- Primary source online license verification required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check: 7-year history, updated annually
- Education verification: Highest level of education must be verified
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam: Within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test: Required within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
Additional Requirements
- Clear headshot photo for badge
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
- Employment application and work history verification (7 years) required
Notes
- Block scheduling and weekend requirements may vary; flexibility is important
- Cardiovascular experience is mandatory due to patient population
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized cardiovascular progressive care unit with supportive staffing ratios and a structured night shift schedule.
