Job Summary

Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with experience in respiratory and neuro diagnostics to provide patient care across hospital floors, including nursery and emergency room support. This is a flexible schedule position requiring availability for every other weekend and holiday shifts.

Key Details

• Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, day (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and night (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Scheduling: Rotating schedule based on department needs; no self-scheduling
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend required
• Holiday Requirements: Yes
• Floating: Required to float to various hospital floors including nursery and ER
• Patient Population: Neonate to adult (ages 0 to 100+)
• Special Equipment: Puritan Bennett 980 & 840 ventilators, LTV1200 ventilators available 24/7 for support

Required Qualifications

• License: Valid New York State Respiratory Therapist license or proof of application with expected issuance date
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist clinical experience
• Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years in respiratory therapy, with neonatal/pediatric experience or exposure required
• Certifications:

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Electronic Medical Record: EPIC experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
• Orientation: 2 days

Additional Requirements and Information

• Must be flexible with schedule adjustments to meet unit and patient care needs
• Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended (public transportation not accessible)
• Dress code: Scrubs in black or ceil blue, closed non-skid shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed hair/beard (no beard if wearing N95 mask), follow hospital dress code for nail polish
• Documentation and medication systems used: EPIC and Pyxis
• Background checks, education verification, and various health and safety documents required prior to start
• N95 fit testing required prior to assignment and annually
• Immunizations and health screenings required including TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, flu vaccination or declination, COVID vaccination or declination, and pneumonia vaccination or declination (for NY facilities)
• Must complete required facility-specific modules and competency exams prior to start
• References and work history verification required

Important Notes

• This is a tentative backfill assignment for 16-32 weeks
• No block scheduling allowed
• Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
• All work history details (bed count, EMR, facility type, etc.) must be complete for submission
• Flu vaccine or exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID testing protocol and mask-wearing policies in effect
• Must complete all required facility-specific forms and consents in a timely manner

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists comfortable with neonatal and adult patient populations, flexible scheduling, and working in a trauma level 2 hospital environment.
