Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer

Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

Perform cardiac diagnostic imaging procedures to study the anatomy and hemodynamics of the heart, including two-dimensional (2D) and Doppler modalities. Responsibilities include:

  • Introducing self and identifying patients using two forms of ID; explaining testing procedures.
  • Reviewing medical history to direct exams.
  • Performing online calculations to quantify cardiac function and hemodynamics.
  • Reporting abnormal findings to Cardiologists and safeguarding patients.
  • Assisting Cardiologists during transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Prioritizing requests based on patient condition.
  • Coordinating with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Covering lead echo technician responsibilities as needed.
  • Operating stress testing equipment and performing 12-lead electrocardiograms when necessary.
  • Maintaining and disinfecting equipment, ordering supplies, and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Ensuring reports are directed to appropriate Cardiologists and monitoring turnaround times.
  • Working independently and collaboratively within the healthcare team.
  • Familiarity with JCAHO guidelines and echo PACS system.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Echo Technologist, including experience within the last year.
  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completion of secondary education or its equivalent.
  • Familiarity with JCAHO guidelines.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Frequent reaching and handling with hands.
  • Occasional stooping and crouching.

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
