Job Opportunity: Clinical Lab Scientist

Location: Mission Viejo, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule: 8-hour shifts, AM hours (0400AM-1230PM weekdays, 0600-1430 weekends)
• Must have strong blood bank experience due to trauma hospital setting with frequent massive transfusions
• Experience in hematology, chemistry, and/or blood bank required
• May be scheduled to float between two nearby locations
• Weekend shifts may exceed every other weekend to meet department needs
• Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
• Local radius for assignment is 50 miles

Required Qualifications

• Valid Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) license in California
• Minimum 2 years of Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) experience, including experience within the last year
• Strong blood bank experience
• Experience in hematology, chemistry, and/or blood bank
• BLS certification

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to float between locations as needed
• Guaranteed hours: facility may call off once per two-week pay period
• Background check and various verifications required (including education, employment, and references)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start required
• Immunizations and health screenings required (e.g., TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Flu vaccine or declination, COVID vaccine or declination)
• Drug screening within 90 days of start required
• Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (not required for Medical Lab Scientists)
• Completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules prior to start and annually thereafter
• References: minimum of 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

• Acute care hospital setting with 488 staffed beds

• May require floating to nearby hospital location

• Candidate must be local or willing to work within a 50-mile radius
• No first-time travelers accepted; must have prior travel contract experience or strong clinical background
• Scheduling flexibility required, including weekends and floating between locations
